The “You Have Evil Attached to You” Scam

What You Need to Know Before You Get Manipulated

This is one of the most common spiritual scams happening today, and it’s far more harmful than most people realize. I can’t count how many times people have come to me after falling for this exact scheme. Many are left feeling anxious, confused, and ashamed.

Others are left financially drained. This scam is one of the most predatory tactics used in spiritual spaces, and it needs to be exposed for what it is.

I had two more people come to me in the last 18 hours stating they have been told they are cursed, so its time that I write up an article about this as well.

How the Scam Works

You might reach out to a spellcaster, psychic, or energy worker for help with something specific. Maybe you’re feeling stuck, seeking love, or hoping to clear your energy. You pay for a basic service or reading, nothing extreme.

Then, suddenly, they tell you something is very wrong with your energy. They say there’s a curse, a dark spirit, an evil attachment, or something similar weighing you down. The tone shifts from guidance to fear.

They claim they’re the only one who can remove it, and it needs to be taken care of urgently. But there’s a catch...

They now say you need to pay a lot more money, usually hundreds or thousands of dollars to be “cleansed” or “cleared.” Sometimes they claim the spirit is so strong it will ruin your life unless removed right away. They create fear, panic, and dependency while increasing their prices each time you ask questions.

This is not real spiritual work. This is a manipulation tactic, and this is a scam.

Why It’s So Harmful

Unfortunately, these types of situations cause more harm than good. They can put strain on your energy path, create barriers and unwanted energy, and in some cases, actually do more than just scare you; they may be the ones putting negative energy on you in the first place.

Why? So you feel stuck. So you believe you have no choice but to keep paying.

In reality, most of these people are scammers and frauds. Many have no understanding of real energy work, no connection to spiritual practice, and no intention to help you. In many cases, nothing is actually happening. They’re simply telling you that something is wrong and banking on you believing it.

Being told you're cursed is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, scams out there. They feed off your fear. It's manipulative and predatory.

Red Flags to Watch For

If any of the following happens, you’re likely being scammed:

  • They tell you you're cursed or have dark energy only after you’ve already paid.

  • They say you must pay a much larger amount to fix the issue. (but really, it doesn't matter the amount)

  • They refuse to explain what they're doing or how.

  • They pressure you into acting fast or say things will get worse if you don’t pay.

  • They claim only they can help you.

This is not what authentic spiritual help looks like. These are red flags, and you should never ignore them.

Real Spiritual Work Does Not Look Like This

Yes, dark energy exists. Yes, energetic blockages can happen. But real spiritual workers do not operate like this.

Ethical practitioners explain what they are doing. They do not spring additional fees on you mid-process. They don’t claim only they can save you. They don’t scare you into buying something you never asked for. A real healer will never use fear as a tool to force payment.

How to Find Someone Trustworthy

If you’re seeking help with your energy, here’s how to make sure you’re working with someone authentic:

  • Transparency: They clearly explain what their work involves, what the process is, and what they need from you.

  • Clear Pricing: The cost is laid out up front. No surprise fees or hidden charges. No upselling out of fear. (giving added suggestions after the ritual work has been completed is different)

  • Respectful Language: They don’t scare, threaten, or manipulate you. They speak with clarity, not urgency.

  • Consistency: They have reviews, a professional presence, and ongoing client support, not a flashy page with unrealistic promises. Look for authentic businesses with a trusted professional website, and if they show work online, make sure it is consistent.

  • Empowerment: They guide you to work with your own energy, not depend entirely on them.

If you’ve been targeted by someone who told you you were cursed, you are not alone. (and I am sorry this has happened to you, I truly am, it's not right and I hope I can bring some trust back through my work, experience, and presence). Many people fall into this trap because these scammers are convincing, and they know exactly how to prey on your fears.

It is important to know that you did nothing wrong by seeking help. What’s wrong is how they chose to manipulate your trust, and it happens way too much...it shouldn't happen at all.

Please do not give your hard-earned money to people who create problems just to sell you fake solutions.

Stay grounded. Ask questions. Trust your instincts. And above all, know that true spiritual work should always respect your energy, not exploit it.

If you ever need guidance or a second opinion, I'm always here. Please send me a message.

You deserve clarity, not fear. Blessings to you all, Avanjia www.thehourofwitchery.com
