The “You Have Evil Attached to You” Scam

Updated: Dec 11, 2025

This is one of the most common and damaging spiritual scams happening today, and it causes far more harm than most people realize. I cannot count how many times people have come to me after experiencing this exact situation. Many arrive anxious, shaken, confused, and ashamed. Others have been financially drained. Some are afraid to trust any spiritual work again. That is why this needs to be talked about clearly and openly.

How This Scam Usually Works

You reach out to a spellcaster, psychic, or energy worker for help with something specific. Maybe you feel stuck. Maybe you want guidance, healing, or clarity. You pay for a basic service or reading, nothing extreme. They tell you something is very wrong with your energy. They claim there is a curse, dark spirit, evil attachment, negative entity, or some form of spiritual danger attached to you. Fear is introduced where none existed before. They then tell you that the issue is urgent and dangerous. They say it must be removed immediately or your life will get worse. And then comes the pressure.

They claim only they can fix it, but now the cost is much higher. Hundreds. Sometimes thousands. Often escalating each time you ask questions.

This is not spiritual work.

This is manipulation.

Why This Scam Is So Harmful

Being told you are cursed or spiritually compromised creates fear, panic, and dependency. It destabilizes people emotionally and energetically. In some cases, the harm does not stop at fear. These individuals may actually introduce negative energy through suggestion, stress, and emotional manipulation. Fear itself is disruptive. Once someone feels powerless, they are easier to control. The goal is not healing. The goal is to keep you paying. Most people running this scam do not have real spiritual knowledge, experience, or ethics. Often, nothing is actually wrong. They are simply telling you something is wrong and relying on fear to keep you hooked. Being told you are cursed is one of the biggest and most predatory scams in spiritual spaces.

Red Flags You Should Never Ignore

If any of the following happens, you are very likely being scammed:

  • They tell you that you are cursed, attacked, or spiritually compromised only after you have already paid for a service.

  • They suddenly say you must pay a much larger amount to fix the problem.

  • They refuse to clearly explain what they are doing or why.

  • They pressure you to act quickly or claim things will get worse if you do not pay.

  • They say that only they can help you.

None of this is normal or ethical spiritual practice.

What Real Spiritual Work Actually Looks Like

Yes, negative energy exists. Yes, blockages and emotional imbalances happen. But ethical spiritual practitioners do not operate through fear. Real spiritual work is transparent. It is explained clearly. Pricing is shared upfront or displayed clearly on their business website. You are not pressured or intimidated to give money. You are not told you are doomed without them.

No ethical practitioner will scare you into buying work you did not ask for. No ethical practitioner will tell you that you are in danger in order to secure payment.

How to Tell If Someone Is Trustworthy

If you are seeking spiritual support, look for the following:

Transparency. They explain what the work is, what it does, and what it does not do.

Clear pricing. Costs are outlined upfront. There are no surprise charges or fear-based upselling. Respectful communication. They do not threaten, rush, or manipulate you.

Consistency. They have an established presence, real reviews, and consistent work, not just dramatic claims. Empowerment. They encourage you to trust your own intuition rather than become dependent on them. And additionally, make sure they have a repituable backround, legitable website and business, with authentic work to show. Look for consistency, experience, and authenticity.

If This Has Already Happened to You

If someone has told you that you were cursed, attacked, or spiritually compromised, I am truly sorry. This should not happen, and it happens far too often. You did nothing wrong by seeking help. The wrongdoing lies entirely with the person who chose to manipulate your trust. Please know that you are not broken, doomed, or spiritually unsafe because someone said so. Fear does not equal truth.

Take a breath. Ground yourself. Ask questions. And step away from anyone who makes you feel panicked, powerless, or pressured. <3

True spiritual work should make you feel supported, not afraid.

Informed, not confused.

Empowered, not dependent.

If something does not feel right, trust that feeling.

Blessings,

Avanjia
