Been Scammed by a “Spell Caster” Online?

In the many years that I have been doing this online for others, I have occasionally had people come to me after they were burned by someone else. Someone paid for ritual work, readings, or spiritual services elsewhere, and the experience went badly. Maybe they were ignored, maybe they never received the work they paid for, or maybe the person clearly did not know what they were doing.

In many cases, it was a complete scam, and unfortunately, this has become an ongoing issue online.

There are a lot of scammers posing as witches, spell casters, and spiritual practitioners across the internet. Etsy, in particular, became flooded with accounts selling “spells” from people who are not practitioners at all. They create listings, take money, and disappear, and others simply copy listings from legitimate practitioners without understanding anything about the craft.

If I am being frank, this is one of the main reasons I disliked being on Etsy. I was never an Etsy-based business to begin with. My work and my business existed long before that platform was part of my equation. Being placed in the same category as hundreds of accounts claiming to sell spell work, many of which were clearly scams, was something I never wanted for my business.

Over the years I have watched the number of fake accounts and dishonest listings increase dramatically across Etsy and other platforms. It is frustrating for everyone involved, especially for people who are genuinely seeking help.

And unfortunately, I too end up dealing with the aftermath.

When Bad Experiences Carry Over

One thing I occasionally run into is when someone has had a terrible experience somewhere else and then comes to me afterward. I understand the frustration, and I understand the distrust, and if someone took your money or broke your trust, that is upsetting and discouraging.

However, sometimes what happens is that a person places an order with me and then shortly after, their energy becomes defensive or combative. The messages become passive-aggressive, and there are sudden demands or accusations before anything has even had time to unfold. When that happens, it is almost always rooted in distrust from a previous experience and has nothing to do with me; this is why I try not to take it to heart.

But that is exactly where the problem begins. If you have been burned before and you are still carrying that distrust, I completely understand why, but that energy cannot be directed at someone new who is trying to help you.

If You Cannot Trust the Practitioner, Do Not Order

This is something I want to say very clearly (and with love.)

If you do not trust the person you are ordering from, do not place the order.

Not because I am going to break your trust as well, but because that kind of dynamic helps no one.

I do not deserve to have distrust, hostility, or suspicion directed at me because of someone else’s actions. At the same time, you do not deserve to spend money on work when your mindset and energy are already in a place of doubt.

Spiritual work requires alignment and intention, and if someone is approaching it from a place of distrust or constant suspicion, it creates tension right from the start but also doesn't create a solid foundation for the ritual work for you.

So if you are unsure, hesitant, or questioning everything from the beginning, it is better not to proceed. There is no reason for either of us to waste our time or energy under those circumstances.

How to Identify a Legitimate Practitioner

Because scams are unfortunately common online, it is extremely important that people do their research before choosing someone to work with.

If you are searching for a practitioner, reader, or spell caster online, here are some of the key things you should look for.

A Real Website

A legitimate practitioner should have an actual website with a domain. Not just a few listings on a marketplace platform. A full website usually shows that someone has invested time into building a real business and presence.

A Registered Business Name

Serious practitioners often operate under a registered business name or brand. This adds credibility and accountability.

Clear Information About Their Practice

There should be information available about who the practitioner is, how they work, and what their services are. A lack of transparency is a major red flag.

Social Media or Public Work

A real practitioner will usually have some form of online presence where you can see their work, teachings, or content.

Reviews and Client Feedback

Reviews matter. A practitioner who has been working with clients for years should have a solid history of real feedback and testimonials.

If someone only has a handful of listings and no real business presence outside of a marketplace account, you are taking a risk.

Your Responsibility as a Client

Yes, people can absolutely become victims of scammers online and I sympathize with you, I do. But it is also your responsibility to do your due diligence before placing an order.

If you were making a major life decision, you would investigate your options.

The same level of responsibility should apply when you are asking someone to perform spiritual work that interacts with your energy, your intentions, and your life path.

Choosing an inexperienced practitioner or someone who is simply pretending to practice can create more problems than solutions. Someone who does not understand what they are doing can create energetic barriers, confusion, or unwanted energetic influences. That is why it is so important to verify who you are working with.

Use the Information Available

If you are considering working with me, everything you need to know about my business and my practice is already available on my website.

You can read about me, you can read the ritual pages, you can read the blog articles in the “Read This” section, and you can review the FAQ and my policies.

There are many areas throughout the website where I explain my work and how my services operate. Use that information to your advantage in rebuilding that trust again, with the right caster/witch this time.

I truly do feel for people who have had terrible experiences elsewhere. It is frustrating and disappointing when people misuse the craft and take advantage of others.

But that kind of behavior reflects on the people who are doing it, not on everyone who practices. Those individuals will deal with the consequences of their actions in their own time. Karma will find them eventually.

My goal is simply to offer my own practice honestly and professionally to those who choose to work with me. If you come here with trust, respect, and genuine intentions, I will always do my best to help you. Blessings, Avanjia www.thehourofwitchery.com
